Internationalisation and globalisation are part and parcel of today's business economy. The process and the effect of globalisation on every business is that they are already operating in an international competitive market, even if they choose not to compete as such. Internationalisation offers your business larger product markets, improved productivity and an ability to diversify your organisation's value chain potentially reducing risks caused... There is untapped potential for many women entrepreneurs in international markets: currently, only 16% of women-led enterprises export compared to 30% of SMEs as a whole. Furthermore, women's confidence and attitude towards international growth are lower than their male counterparts: 78% of women consider themselves to be weak at entering new markets.

This event will be themed around internationalising your business and its potential benefits. Come and hear about the support available to businesses who want to internationalise and the experiences of those who have already done it. As well as hearing from our expert speakers, you'll get a chance to share your own experiences and network with entrepreneurs and their supporters




GUEST SPEAKER:

Peter Bishop

Peter Bishop is Deputy Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce/World Chambers Federation ATA Carnet Council and ATA Administrative Committee.

At the London Chamber of Commerce as well as having responsibilities for the Chinese Business Association he also looks after the Chamber's international trade activities which include export documentation, Enterprise Europe Network and international trade events and missions. In a typical year the London Chamber issues over 130,000 export and import documents, answers 5,000 trade enquiries, and organises 40 export seminars and trade missions. He also has responsibility for the Chamber's Asian Business Association and information service and is the editor of London Business Matters magazine.

Peter has been the elected Chairman of the World ATA Carnet Council and ATA Carnet Committee since 2004 and chairs the work of these groups to manage and develop the temporary import and export regime for professional equipment, samples and goods for trade fairs and exhibitions in 71 countries worldwide.

Peter holds an MSc in International Business from London University and is a writer and consultant on the mechanics of international trade including procedures and regulations. His books include the Export Handbook and the International Trade Manual (co-author).

Eva Sonaike

Eva Sonaike is a London-based lifestyle company producing luxurious home decor, fashion accessories, textiles and interior design solutions that deliver vibrancy and colour to people's homes and wardrobes. Their mission, 'Bringing Color to Life' is reflected in signature collections of cushions, bags, notebooks, fabrics and furnishings using African style textiles combined with the finest velvets and leathers.

Creative Director Eva Sonaike graduated with an MA in Fashion from the London College of Fashion, where she specialized in contemporary African fashion and textiles.

She then pursued an editorial career working as UK Fashion Editor for Hubert Burda Media for five years, working for German Elle, InStyle and Focus.

Driven by her enormous passion for African fabrics, interior decoration and color she set up her own label in 2009. Eva's quest was to bring her passion for African fabrics and her exuberant love for color to the luxury market, which she has been working in for many years.

Eva, who was born and raised in Germany and is of Nigerian origin, has taken the best elements of those two cultures to inspire her work & her designs draw from the two distinct influences of colorful African clothing culture and European antique and mid century furniture traditions.

Emphasis is placed on hand finishing, distinct designs and high quality manufacturing. All our products are manufactured and printed in England. Eva Sonaike products have since then been stocked in London's top department stores Liberty, Fenwick of Bond Street and Selfridges, as well as in exclusives boutiques around the world.
