FAQ
What is Skilio?
We are a skill sharing marketplace that connects members by matching skill demand with skill supply via the framework of a social network. And we use live interactive classrooms for an enriched learning experience. Oh, and you know you can trust the people you are put in touch with, because unlike many other eLearning services on the web, our search results are primarily generated from within a members network to create meaningful and sustained exchanges.
Who is Skilio for?
For you - for me - for everyone. Skilio can be used by individuals, businesses, teachers and students, those just starting their careers and those who have retired and have many years of expert knowledge behind them. Skilio is for anyone who wants to share a skill with someone else or find out more on a subject in a way that mirrors how we do it in the real world.
What can I do on Skilio?
On Skilio you can:
- Learn anything, anywhere, anytime - we bring access to a vast skill set straight to your door, be that the Grenada, Grenoble or the Gambia. This can range from accounting to eco-building to teaching guitar. It is a global tool.
- Earn Money - being a Skilio member empowers you to capitalize on your skills and be financially rewarded for sharing the knowledge that you have acquired over a lifetime
Save Money - by learning using Skilio, you cut out all those annoying extra costs you would normally pay when following a course such as childcare, transport, parking & even paying the middle man
- Network and Connect: - you can use Skilio to build and strengthen relationships around the skills you have and the skills you want to have
- Share & help others - We strongly believe in the potential to make a direct and lasting impact in economically deprived and developing areas. Just an hour a week teaching a group of kids how to add or speak a foreign language, for example, can make a real difference to their lives, and create a lasting link between people.
Access knowledge, whatever the budget - Because of our flexible payment models, all members can have instant access to affordable skill sharing exchanges that allow you to continually learn, throughout life.
Why do you talk about Skill exchanges between members, rather than just plain simple lessons between students and teachers?
Good question, and yes, we'll admit it - this has caused us a bit of head scratching. The thing is, that we are not just about 'education' - we are about people sharing their knowledge, in whatever way works best for them. That could be via teaching of course, but also via mentoring, consulting, a one off conversation, a regular meet up - so we prefer to call it skill exchanges - after all everyone grows after a Skilio Session - their knowledge, their network and their finances - so it truly is an exchange!
